Ultras for Celebrities - Le Iene by nateedwards
The above is an exercise in rhyme and profanity translation from a show called
Le Iene (The Hyenas) which is named after the Italian title for
Reservoir Dogs. I translated and subtitled a five-minute segment from that Italian satirical news program (imagine the pre-taped correspondent segments on
The Daily Show).
The premise of the segment is "What if celebrities had ultrafans like soccer teams do?" Using that excuse, the group puts biting criticism into song. It's making fun of Italian celebrities, but it helpfully includes all the context you need to get the jokes. The songs rhymed in the original, so I've produced my own rhyming translations, playing a little bit loose with the meaning when necessary.
